The Andaasi Rift Nebula
A sector of space in the near Outer Rim (just beyond the boundary with the Mid Rim) between Bothan and Hutt space occupied by a vast nebula perforated by numerous pockets containing young stars. Treachorous to navigate, it has been utterly bypassed by major trade routes (despite its proximity to population centers in the Mid Rim) and is sparsely populated.
The Valan System
Vala is a Red Giant star located on the edge of the Andaasi Rift Nebula in the Outer Rim. It is orbited by an asteroid belt and a single planet (which in turn supports a single moon).
Rickner's Folly
Rickner's Folly is the name given to the asteroid belt in orbit around Vala. Imperial astrophyisicists theorize that it is the remains one or more planentary masses that were pulverized and pushed outward when Vala expanded from a yellow to red star. It is so named for the leader of a private survey team that believed it to be a source of valuable minerals similar to those found on the planet Gondoon.
Vala's Hammer
The largest asteroid in the field known as Rickner's Folly, Vala's Hammer is a virtual planetoid known to be honeycombed with natural caverns. It's composition defies remote sensor scans, and only the most foolhardy pilots would attempt to brave the dangers of the asteroid field to investigate. The private survey team for which the asteroid field was named made it as far as Vala's Hammer and were never heard from again. Vala's Hammer is also rumored to be the secret hideout of the notorious space pirate Siegird.
Gondoon
The Valan System's only life-sustaining world, Gondoon is a tropical water world known for its thriving undersea mining industry. Unfortunately, the byproducts of this industry has tainted Gondoon's atmosphere with fungal spore polllutants, to the extent that the entire surface of the planet is covered with a layer of rust-colored fungal colonies. This has not deterred mining operations in the least, and increased production eventually necessitated the construction of a skyhook/space elevator.
Solpour Station
Acting as the primary port for the Valan System, Solpour Station is anchored in orbit of Gondoon by means of a skyhook. This allows bulk transport of mining products to orbit without the need for a planetside launch port. The station is nominally controlled by the Empire, who are responsible for station security. All other administrative functions are handled by the Red Star Trading Coster, the primary stakeholder in Gondoon's mining operations and financiers of the station's construction. Services/locations aboard the station include:
- Documat: A commercial datastore franchise
- Ela's Tomb: A cantina
- Harcorp Medical: A franchise medical center
- Q'Zoon!: A chain restraunt
- Speed-E Chop Shop: Automated droid repair/upgrade facility
Aom
Pronounced "owm," Aom is Gondoon's single moon. It is home to the system's Imperial garrison, and rumored to be the site of an Imperial R&D facility. The purposes attributed to this rumored facility are many, but the most popular is that they are carrying out research into weaponizing a star's gravity well and using it to launch its satellites (read: planets) at neighboring star systems.
The Naalol System
The Naalol system is located in the mid-rim. The Naalol system has three planets: Naalol and two others, all three in extremely close orbit to their star.
Naalol
A sparsely inhabited terrestrial world with few spaceports or major cities, and many picturesque canyons and plateaus. There is a small Imperial presence here: The inhabitants do not interfere with the Imperial government, keeping mostly to themselves. This was to be the location of the Eclipse's rendezvous with the Stars and Garters, and now one of Naalol's picturesque canyons has a Stars and Garters-shaped gouge in it.
Rigton Spaceport
One of Naalol's few spaceports, Rigton is a sprawling complex built into the side of one Naalol's many picturesque plateaus. It is also the location of an ISB office and small Stormtrooper garisson.
