Group Hooks

  • A small-time glitterstim dealer, a Toydarian named Zekko, contracted our party to deliver a small but valuable shipment of the spice to a client on Iego. We got to the designated drop-off site, but there was no client to pick up and pay for the goods. We waited the designated time, then went to the back-up site. No client. Essentially, the contracted deal was a bust.
Sensing the unpleasant eyes of the local constabulary upon us, we found a willing buyer in the spaceport and collected a tidy sum for the merchandise. We forwarded the original sale sum to Zekko and pocketed the remainder.
What we don't know is that a) Zekko found out about the change in deal, and knows we held out money on him; b) the original client still wants the shipment and is mad at Zekko, and c) the person we sold the 'stim to was a minor functionary in a Hutt's organization looking to muscle in on Zekko's operation.

Character Specific Hooks

Tobias

  • His wife and kids are still alive, and he likes to send them money whenever he can. They can't know he's alive, though, since that would put them in danger. So, he pays someone to make it appear like they are receiving a payout from a life insurance policy he'd taken out. The only problem is, with the erratic income of the ship, he misses payments here and there. Tobias worries they may start trying to contact the dummy insurance company about it. He's also not 100% sure the guy he's giving the money to even gets it to his family.

Venn

  • Unhealed Wounds: Venn suffered serious injuries at the hands of Mal’Kria and her cultists. With the aid of the hermit Taza, he was able to return to strength. His injuries, however, have not fully healed. In fact, only a complex and expensive surgery can fully repair the damage done by the cult leader when she ran Venn through with her Ion blade. Venn hasn’t been able to raise the money to pay for the operation, but even if he had it, he would not go near a physician. He knows that any blood test would reveal his high midichlorian count and he would almost certainly be turned over to the Empire.
Mal’Kria’s blade damaged one of Venn’s lungs, and as a result he often finds himself short of breath. Until he receives the surgery that he needs, any time Venn runs. Lifts a heavy weight, swims a long distance or carries out any other constant strenuous activity, he must make a Fortitude save or become light-headed and unable to carry out any strenuous action as he pants and gasps for air.
His crewmates on the Eclipse are aware of this condition, and it is part of the explanation for why his strength is low and his constitution only average. Were Venn not a Zabrak, he would likely suffer much worse effects from his lung injuries.
  • A friend in danger: Venn has been thinking lately of his hermit friend, and is plagued by worry about his fate. He has had disturbing dreams that Taza is in danger, and does not know if this they are some manifestation of the Force, or simply fueled by apprehension that he has been unable to contact the man who very literally saved his life. Venn is becoming increasingly concerned about the hermit, but is unsure how to get in touch with him. Only by returning to Kurinori does he have any real chance of checking in on Taza.
Note that Venn has the Farseeing skill – I want this to be a more recent development in his life as a Jedi. Venn has thus far not had many visions or impressions from distant places – the first several, he mistook for simple daydreaming. He is beginning to understand that it is the Force that is sending him these visions, though he isn’t sure why. He is deeply concerned that his dreams about Taza are part of this same mechanism, and he will keep an ear out for any news from Kurinori.

Tieg

  • Something that's been eating away at Tieg would be wondering what he did while he was ina drunken stupor on <planet whatever>. He's pretty sure he got into a fight, and he's pretty sure he may have used the Force to help him fight. He can't remember if he used his lightsaber or not, and he doesn't remember if he killed someone, maimed someone, or something else. He woke up in a dark hovel, alone and relatively unharmed, and with his possessions, so whatever kind of fight it was, he either won it or managed to crawl away undetected.
It's probably the only time in his life that he can't remember the details of, and he's been afraid to meditate through the Force to find the answers. What really happened is a big question mark for him--he could be wanted for what happened, but he doesn't know.
Most of the crew probably know this story, except for Venn. They haven't been together on the ship long enough for Tieg to have revealed that particular failing. Venn would probably sense something off, though.
